About Ms. Sinnott

My name is Meghan Sinnott and I am thrilled to be the new ELL Teacher at Marshall Simonds Middle School. I would like to take a moment to share a little bit about myself. I am originally from New Hampshire, but have considered Boston my home for quite some time now. I have taught a variety of ages (from 4-50+), cultures and proficiency levels in both national and international settings. During my time abroad, I taught at the primary and secondary levels in the beautiful town of Seville, Spain and near the bustling city of Bangkok, Thailand. My most recent experience was teaching English to adults at a private language school in Boston. It was there that I also created and instructed future teachers in a professional Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages certification course.

My experience in the ESL field has provided me with a background in the pedagogical methodologies and approaches necessary to develop and present stimulating lesson plans that facilitate all learning styles. As a result, our MSMS students will increase their English language ability as they receive instruction based on their needs and a variety of learning situations. As the ELL teacher at MSMS, It is my goal to combine my range of instruction with my ability to be a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher, and to continue making a positive contribution to my students’ lives here at MSMS.

What I enjoy most about teaching is my students. I’ve had the opportunity of meeting people from all around the world, and with that has come many learning experiences and cultural exchanges. I’ve always enjoyed traveling, and I believe my passion to learn different cultures is what sparked my interest in teaching English to speakers of other languages. Rather than jet setting on a plane, I get in my car and drive to work and experience the cultures of my students. I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to educate such bright individuals and I look forward to learning from them as they learn from me.

If you are looking to get to know me better; let me help you. I enjoy anything outdoors. I grew up in an avid sports family. Instead of playing with Barbie dolls, I was outside being tackled in a football game by my brothers. Skiing is another big passion of mine. Other hobbies include cooking, playing tennis (not very well), and dominating in Scrabble (nerdy? maybe.). I am always looking for a new adventure. With that being said, I am very excited to be a part of MSMS and the Burlington Public School community. Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to getting to know everyone and hope to bring a positive light to this already bright and shiny school.
